This majestic Douglas Fir stands solidly on the Heritage Lands overlooking Craig Bay on Vancouver Island, Canada. It has stood here for a long time and been witness to many changes over the years. It watched the first people, descendants of the Nanoose Band, hunt and fish, live and die, and eventually be buried here. It watched families enjoying their summer holidays when it was Craig's On The Sea Campgrounds. And now, it watches me, a resident of the Craig Bay community. If only this witness could talk, it would have many stories to tell.
