As I enjoy my weekly breakfast with my husband, John, he recounts the story of another man he went through recovery with who has passed away. John, now more than a decade free from addiction, is one of the few still standing. Many of his peers have either relapsed or been lost to overdose or suicide. There's a part of him that has a survivor's guilt, knowing that there were many peers who were worthy and deserving of the second chance and a free life he now lives.

My work is drawn to the places where light feels hidden – places marked by ache, quiet questions, or things unsaid. I tend to linger there, not out of despair, but because I believe beauty and hope can penetrate the dark and change everything.
"It only takes a single photon of light to pierce utter darkness – just one. In a world that can seem to grow dimmer, I paint to reveal, not manufacture, that quiet, unrelenting presence of light – a real hope grounded in truth."
