My wood assemblages are compositions that randomly emerge from cutting, shaping and arranging pieces of wood, most of which is aged tongue and groove Douglas Fir. Once assembled I sand and paint and stain. The finished piece is waxed and polished.
While the compositions are cerebral and subconscious, they are guided by my conscious critical eye, drawing on both my instinctive and educated knowledge of shape and form.
‘Station House’ is a premonition of the home I now live in.

"I aspire to work as easily with wood as though it were a pencil, so I might scribble and doodle until there is something worth strengthening, aiming for a suggestion that might be easily acknowledged, all the while moving at such a pace that the material seems to assemble itself."
