Inspiration for the works “Tamara” and “D’Annunzio” - were inspired by my 1980’s trip to the publishing house of Franco Maria Ricci in Milan, where first I encountered Tamara De Lempicka and brought her home with me. Tamara De Lempicka and the Italian poet Gabriele D’Annunzio were legendary lovers in a dangerous time, when fascism was on the rise.

These wood assemblages are compositions that randomly emerge from cutting, shaping and arranging pieces of wood, most of which is aged tongue and groove Douglas Fir. Once assembled I sand and paint and stain. The finished piece is waxed and polished.
"I aspire to work as easily with wood as though it were a pencil, so I might scribble and doodle until there is something worth strengthening, aiming for a suggestion that might be easily acknowledged, all the while moving at such a pace that the material seems to assemble itself."
