Jill's paintings explore human relationships in search of what holds us together. She likes to think of people as vessels of connection. She shares experienced moments and sensations, where connections range from hopeful and inclusive to fractured or completely missed. Abstracted figures become a metaphor for the wider human condition. Breaking down boundaries allows permeable figures to merge with each other and their environment. Experimental and intuitive, she paints in layers of mixed water media, using a collage aesthetic. Jill employs imagination, colour relationships and symbolic elements as a means to transcend time and space and to connect with her roots, her here-and-now experiences and, most importantly, the viewer.
