About the Artwork

Springtime at The Bluffs
This piece invites you to immerse yourself in the beauty of Galiano Island, where Garry oaks, maples, and Douglas firs frame the sweeping view of Active Pass from The Bluffs. The pale green of new Garry oak and maple leaves, just emerging from their buds, speaks of renewal and the hope of spring. Soft grasses edge the pathway, while clouds drift like whispers overhead. Tender oak leaves curl in every direction, maple leaves reach eagerly into the fresh air, and stalwart Douglas firs weave their branches with the breath of spring — a harmony of movement, colour, and the promise of new life.

Jeanne Erickson

Galiano Island, British Columbia

My work celebrates the beauty of Galiano Island and the rhythms of wild joy that connect everything in and around this little island. Recently I have been exploring the night sky, playing with the shapes of light and dark cast by the light of the moon.

""When painting our long narrow island I am tuned into the rhythms of open sky and ocean that weave through the tapestry of rock and forest connecting us all""
