About the Artwork

Usnea, or Old Man’s Beard as it’s more commonly known, grows all over North America and very prolifically in Central and Northern BC where I live. It’s growth turns black over winter and the fresh new greenish grey growth continues right of top of the black from previous years. It is edible and has several medicinal uses. Foraging and learning about the abundance of plants in our forests is an interest and study of mine.

Jeanette Orydzuk

Prince George, British Columbia

Jeanette uses her art to understand who she is and her place in the world. She works mostly from memory and imagination to acheive the feeling tone of an image rather than a realistic one.

"I allow myself to be versatile with media and styles because it helps me feel alive while creating and opens me up to new ideas for more work."
