This painting, inspired by my numerous visits to the Mackenzie Mountains in the southeastern Yukon, reflects the profound transformations I've witnessed over the years. The shrinking glaciers, a consequence of reduced snowfall and warmer summers, serve as poignant indicators of environmental change. It's disheartening to anticipate the disappearance of these glaciers within my lifetime. Capturing this landscape was driven by a desire to preserve it before it undergoes irreversible alteration.
Having had the privilege of painting in the Yukon and Alaska for over two decades, I've developed a deep spiritual connection to the land. The ever-changing seasons in this expansive region continuously fuel my creativity, from the tranquil winter scenes to the vibrant hues of autumn. Despite the Yukon's vast wilderness largely remaining untouched, the effects of climate change are increasingly evident and palpable.
