This painting is based on various plein-air sketches and canoe adventures on the lakes of Northern Ontario. The Precambrian Canadian Shield, along with wind-swept pines, is an iconic image of Eastern Canada. I love painting this subject since it takes me back to my roots of early landscape painting in Canada.
