The first day we were in Marrakesh we found our way to where the wool is dyed. As you approach the area, you see reams of different coloured wool hanging to dry on lines hung across the narrow streets of the souk. There were men felting the wool, winding it on to spools and lots of colourful shawls and wraps for sale. In the dark corner we found an opening where a man was dying the wool in large vats. I have a great deal more appreciation for the vibrant colours in the shawl I bought that day.

My paintings are created through my senses, my whole being coming together to capture on canvas the inner significance of the subject that just has to be painted. Diane holds Canadian and Mexican citizenship and splits her time between Calgary, Alberta and San Jose del Cabo, BCS, Mexico.
"I am inspired by the intensity of the light, vibrant colours and how cultures use colour to express themselves, the musical notes of life and love, and the fragrant smells of the earth and its offspring. I feel the energy that comes from the freedom to just be."
