The side streets of Mexican towns are full of these little markets. The elderly woman sitting on the step between customers adds a lovely charm to this one. She looks like she would be an interesting person to converse with. I used the same black (with some red) under painting as the last one. Love these Mexican mercados!

My paintings are created through my senses, my whole being coming together to capture on canvas the inner significance of the subject that just has to be painted. Diane holds Canadian and Mexican citizenship and splits her time between Calgary, Alberta and San Jose del Cabo, BCS, Mexico.
"I am inspired by the intensity of the light, vibrant colours and how cultures use colour to express themselves, the musical notes of life and love, and the fragrant smells of the earth and its offspring. I feel the energy that comes from the freedom to just be."
