Monique Froehler
North Saanich, British Columbia
Monique Froehler graduated from the Emily Carr University in Vancouver, BC with a Bachelor of Fine Arts focused on printmaking and painting. Upon graduation, she worked in Graphic Design and Illustration for a few years. Later, Monique went back to university and pursued a teaching degree in Secondary Art at the University of British Columbia. After graduation, she was hired as a Secondary School Art teacher in a First Nations community in the Northwest Territories. She painted plein-air each summer break. Currently, Monique resides in North Saanich, Vancouver Island where she has a studio and still works part-time teaching.
Making art is Monique’s response to her daily landscape and her memories. Her work is often based in nostalgia that she likes to refer to in her pieces. Art keeps her present and grounded in her busy daily life.
