Patty Lynes
Hamilton, Ontario
Painting at sunrise of an interior lake or sketching as the sun sets to the quiet and calm are her happy places. Her love of wilderness began in the 70's. A career in environmental design took her around the world and across Canada. Working in Toronto and Vancouver she studied part time at OCAD University and Emily Carr University of Art & Design (ECUAD).
She is now based in Hamilton and Claremont. Working primarily in oils she paints with loose gestural brushwork to capture the spirit of place. Her paintings strive to encompass in gesture the natural world especially through the changing light of day.

Much of my inspiration is found in nature where I seek out the silence sitting by the lake at first light, watching the sun rise, and the mist slowly clear. Many of my pieces are painted on location. Painting at low light under an immense ever changing sky is glorious.
