Laurie Martz is a Comox abstract painter whose love of the mountains/oceans/land and those who share it infuses her art. A ‘late in life’ painter (her words), she retired from years as a family physician and dove into the artworld.

Her abstracted and landscape work in acrylic and mixed media is intuitive and influenced by place. She also brings what comes onto the canvas from deep inside her world; she layers colour and texture on canvas/paper/board using paint, collage, and markmaking
tools till balance ensues and the work is done.

Laurie’s art education has been self taught with local and on-line workshops. Her work has shown at juried and community shows in BC and is in private collections across Canada.
