About the Artwork

Gravity Rising came through incarnations searching for what it was meant to be. The ups and downs of the success over the 18 months that I worked with it certainly reflected back to me how our creativity is cyclic, like the moon, like the fields of gravity which affect it. We are all made of the same basic structure, just water and a few chemicals, all controlled by gravitational pull. The push and pull of our inner and outer lives as artists and as humans runs intertwined with that of the natural world we live, that’s the story.

Laurie Martz

Comox, British Columbia

Laurie is a Comox abstract painter whose love of
the mountains/oceans/land and those who share it
infuses her art. Her work shows the hiding and the reveal, coming from the core that defines her. It tells of her interior landscape, reflecting the natural world whether recognisable or obscured.

"I share my work to give joy and beauty to others, and to let them see me. My art often reflects themes and questions of the world... layered in complexity, seen and interpreted with a personal filter.

I hope people see in it what they need, to enrich their world."
