Art has been a part of my life for as long as memory serves. Mental images are still very clear of doing homework, then practicing the current music lesson, then having time to paint.
It began with John Gnagy, a TV art teacher who taught shape and form. I began by painting postcard images onto rough Masonite – not a recommended practice. Setting aside the brushes during the career years did not alter my interest in art. When time permitted I studied various styles taking internet courses from artists like Kevin Hill, Andrew Tischler and Mark Carder leading to my interest in realism. I work solely with a modified Zorn limited 4-color palette.

I treat every painting as a portrait in an attempt to bring to the canvas the life and essence of the subject whether a human face or something from the natural world. Each subject speaks to me in a unique way.
