About the Artwork

This piece is a nature-inspired coastal abstract, featuring a very textured appeal and an overall neutral colour palette. It was conceived through my love of British Columbia's seascapes and beach landscapes, with their constant ebb and flow, and their mix of organic shapes and gritty textures. This painting is elegant and muted, with a refined energy and contemporary appeal. It nods to the sandy beaches and coarse topography I love so dearly.

Julia Di Sano

New Westminster, British Columbia

Julia Di Sano is a full-time contemporary artist based in New Westminster, BC, working from her home studio to create atmospheric, layered and textural abstracts and semi-abstracted landscapes inspired by British Columbia's sublime natural beauty. Her work is internationally recognized and collected.

"My aim is to capture brief moments in Nature's enduring history and translate them, along with the emotions they evoke within me, into paint on canvas. Sublime and somewhat veiled. Art allows us, as humans, to explore the mystery of the world around us and seek out tangible answers.""
