About the Artwork

‘Centripetal’ celebrates the interdependence, tension and harmony of human and animal coexistence. The near black and textured, neutral background, tries to create a quiet comfort with the dark unknowns of the natural world and the spiral journey reinforces our cyclical connection to nature. The line-work’s interconnections suggest a fundamental unity between all living things while emphasizing a sense of continuing motion and transformation in our world.

Victoria Mitchell

Vancouver, British Columbia

Victoria Mitchell explores emotional, visceral, and environmental sensitivities, through abstract and representational drawings and paintings. She is influenced by extensive studies of body structure and kinetics, and is strongly inspired by connections with our natural surroundings.

"While painting, I absorb into the exploration of environmental, physical & emotional dynamics. These expressions which might otherwise go undefined, demonstrate connections between these different realms of experience. The opportunity for introspection and sharing, brings me excitement and joy in the creation of each piece."
