Where the ocean meets the shore, water strikes with a force that reshapes all. Then, it pulls back into stillness. Slamming Wash and the Calm holds both truths in a single frame: the violence of the breaking wave and the quiet that always follows.
This piece is part of theOceans, The Sacred Weight of Water series. It is built from layered watercolour washes and her signature shimmered pigment, which catches and releases light. As you move past the painting, the surf seems to move with you, rising, crashing, and settling again depending on where you stand and how the light falls. No two viewings are quite the same.
This piece required the kind of reflection water teaches best: power and peace are not opposites but part of the same rhythm. The wave that roars is the same one that recedes into calm.
It offers a living presence on the wall, a reminder of nature's strength and of the stillness waiting on the other side of every storm.
