This bouquet was a present from my pickleball friends commemorating the passing of my long time partner, an accomplished painter and well loved art instructor. As the painting neared completion, the flowers were drooping, so had to prop them up with chopsticks.

Painting from life has always fascinated me. I love seeing flower petals animated by gentle breezes or inhaling the deeply scented perfume of colourful iris and rose blooms, as they “pose” before me under dappled sunlight.
"My primary objective when painting on location, is to seize the drama - a specific group of flowers or landscape into a lively composition."
