I was attending a plein
I was attending a Plein Air event with other artists in the Halliburton area, Ontario. Having painted several studies of the falls over the 2 days, I felt this vertical composition was the most successful and developed it further in the studio at home.
I wanted to capture the excitement of the turbulent, frothy white water as it splashed downward and thundered over the contrasting dark boulders.

Painting from life has always fascinated me. I love seeing flower petals animated by gentle breezes or inhaling the deeply scented perfume of colourful iris and rose blooms, as they “pose” before me under dappled sunlight.
"My primary objective when painting on location, is to seize the drama - a specific group of flowers or landscape into a lively composition."
