Sanctuaries aren't just for birds and wildlife. This one serves as a refuge for me as well. A place where nature speaks to my heart and calms the concerns of the day. I can come here to walk along Rithett's Bog, and immerse myself in its’ beauty and tranquility. Painting this piece was also a refuge or sorts for me. As I painted, I escaped to a place without thought, embracing the peacefulness, as I moved in the flow of creating.

"At some point the painting shows me something, the hint of a place, an image, or just a mood. I get a feeling that I react too and that’s when the painting starts to take shape. The rest is a dance between intuition and controlled response."
