About the Artwork

At Mount Doug’s familiar shoreline, this lone tree stretches toward the ocean, holding stories of countless gatherings, quiet moments and memories of gatherings when I was a teen. Harmony reveals itself in contrasts — the solidity of rock against the fluidity of water, the shifting sands alongside the enduring tree. Together, they remind us that balance is not about sameness, but about differences living in peace with one another. If only us humans could learn the power of this truth. Here, nature composes its own song of harmony, timeless and ever-changing.

Carol Bednarski

Victoria, British Columbia

Carol is an impressionist/abstract artist known for her bold use of colour and expressive brushwork. Carol's lives in Victoria, BC where she paints full time.

"At some point the painting shows me something, the hint of a place, an image, or just a mood. I get a feeling that I react too and that’s when the painting starts to take shape. The rest is a dance between intuition and controlled response."
