“Breaking Through” is the result of being on the edge of a major break through in my art. After months of exploration that involved trial and error with many different techniques of painting, I have settled on a revised psychology for my painting process. I will now, allow my fears, angst and misconceptions about my art to break through my self imposed barriers and accept them for what they are. They are just thoughts and if I face them unconditionaly, I know that they can be adjusted, erased or modified at will. “Breaking Through” references those positive and negative thoughts that are floating above and below the surface of my subconsciousness. Each thought has merit on its own but together they make up the whole. When I learn to balance my negative and positive, thoughts and emotions, harmony will be created within.

My art is influenced by the small communities I have lived in over the years. My collage and abstract landscape paintings have multilayers of rich texture and bold colors that reference northern BC. I believe an artist can convey mood, feeling and emotions without using symbolism or realism.
