B2 is a close study of stones along the Newfoundland shoreline, painted in watercolour with attention to texture, surface, and subtle shifts of colour. The rocks, shaped by water and time, hold a quiet monumentality despite their small scale. In choosing this subject, I highlight the material culture of place: the physical ground on which daily life unfolds, and the forms that endure long after human traces fade. The work speaks to endurance, history, and the overlooked beauty of what is underfoot. By isolating and elevating the stones within the composition, I invite viewers to reconsider the ordinary as symbolic, grounding, and integral to identity. The title, reduced to a code-like abbreviation, underscores the simplicity of the subject while nodding to its place within a larger series of observations. B2 reflects on permanence and impermanence, the durability of land and the fragility of the stories we tie to it.
