A tribute to the two magnificent arbutus at the picnic area at Montague Provincial Park on Galiano Island. A high tide and storm ravaged their root system and they were cut down. In my grief I saw their spirits rising into the moon, a raven appearing during the painting process, as witness to their journey.

My work celebrates the beauty of Galiano Island and the rhythms of wild joy that connect everything in and around this little island. Recently I have been exploring the night sky, playing with the shapes of light and dark cast by the light of the moon.
""When painting our long narrow island I am tuned into the rhythms of open sky and ocean that weave through the tapestry of rock and forest connecting us all""
