About the Artwork

It was a gleeful moment when I thought of pairing this image of a rather worried looking woman in her bravely spotted red dress with the deer scene I had been itching to paint for months. Suddenly life was floating everywhere, a bit too much to keep track of. This certainly echoes my own experience as a mother, although the deer seem equipped to handle it beautifully. So many legs to consider, so very many spots!

Oiseau, AFCA

Argenta, British Columbia

Oiseau lives and paints in the mountains of British Columbia, Canada. While she focuses primarily on portraiture and the figure, plein air landscape painting is also an important part of her practice and inspiration.

"In painting as in life, whatever distance you travel just opens up further vistas for exploration. Subtleties, bold statements, complexities of relationships, colour, colour, colour. I wish I could paint forever!"
