I am so impressed not only by the beauty of this bird but by its amazing home building skills. This is a portrait of a Black Headed Weaver from the Bloedell Conservatory in Vancouver. I was fascinated watching it weaving its nest and caught it as it stopped to rest while searching for more building materials. I loved the bright splash of colour it was amongst the vertical lines of the foliage, both elements pleasing for me.
