About the Artwork
I took the reference photo for this painting at a zoo several years ago. I love big cats, and was thrilled to watch this guy lazing in the afternoon sun. I wanted to capture a softness in this piece, both regarding the textures and the atmosphere. I used a limited palette and put him in his natural habitat.
