When we hear his raucous call we all run to the window to see him float down through the trees and into the reeds beside the pond. We always hope he’ll bring a mate and perhaps nest here in the spring, but so far he only comes to eat the bullfrogs. Sometimes he’s so well camouflaged that we can only find him because we can see his reflection in the water. But that day he stood there proud and confident, in a bright shaft of sunlight.

Sheila Van Delft
Langley, British Columbia
Sheila Van Delft is a visual artist who paints landscape and wildlife with sensitivity and thoughtfulness and hopes to bring a little of the wilds into the homes of her collectors. Her images include a wide variety of subjects such as mountains, forests, lakes, rivers, and BC birds and wildlife.
"I have been an artist since I was a child and can’t imagine my life without painting. My favourite subjects to paint are landscape and wildlife so it’s amazing to be able to paint what I see around me every day."
