About the Artwork
This painting comments on the prairie landscape and its similarity to woven textiles. The intertwining of roots and soil, of yarn and stitch is a symbolic part of the prairies. The physical act of planting, growing and making is significant to me now as we settle back into our homes. We long to participate in these earthly, homely traditions and it becomes (again) an integral part of our culture as it was before.
