About the Artwork
The Only Sea Foods neon sign was a Vancouver icon on East Hastings Street. It is an example of the signs that used to line the city's street in the neon golden age of the 1940's and 50's. This part of the city was at one time the main shopping and entertainment area. Vancouver was considered second to Las Vegas for its number of neon signs at that time. However, Vancouver's anti-neon sign laws have reduced the number of neon signs to just a few that survive today. The Only Sea Foods restaurant has been out of business for years.
