This painting is based on photographs that I took of a grouping of statues called "A-mase-ing Laughter" by artist Yue Minjun. They are located in Morton Park overlooking English Bay. The statues are of 14 larger than life images of the artist himself laughing hysterically. They are now part of the City of Vancouver's public art displays and are very popular with children and tourists. This grouping of statues quickly became on of the city's most recognizable pieces of outdoor art.
