It was an electric moment when two separate subjects I was preparing to paint made a magnetic leap onto the same canvas. Visually, they were related by shape and colouration… but even more intriguing was the complex interconnection of mood across the watery dimension of time. The resulting painting could of course be read in many ways, but for me it’s about keeping one’s head above the water, as time both obscures and reveals.

"In painting as in life, whatever distance you travel just opens up further vistas for exploration. Subtleties, bold statements, complexities of relationships, colour, colour, colour. I wish I could paint forever!"
