In this (admittedly provocative) small painting, I wanted to explore the territory of not seeing / not being seen. In the news we read the tension between people’s demand to see what has been hidden, and the individual’s right to remain unexposed, hence the title “Redact.” But I think the image can be read on different levels, and perhaps invoke quite different responses.
