C$2,000
This spring I completed an extensive set of works exploring the theme of waiting, from a variety of angles. The project started with a series of seven ladies In Waiting, who historically of course were “waiting on” rather than “waiting for.” Framed in solitude, in a static landscape, each lady has mastered the art of timelessness. Here we see only the first of the ladies, but clues to her companions are tucked away below the scene, hidden treasures linking each lady to the others. (The rich red costume was sewed by myself, taking pretty much as long as the painting!)
