About the Artwork

During the process of painting this scenic view from Thornhill Mountain, I happened upon the Sanskrit word “ullasa”, which describes the feeling of pleasantness evoked by natural beauty. I believe many of us take for granted that we live in Canada, a country literally bursting with panoramic views. The areas of our country and province that I have had the pleasure and privilege of exploring never disappoint and leave me with a deep sense of gratitude that this is my home. Hiking through forests and alpine meadows provides me with respect for both the power and fragility of the natural landscape. It offers the opportunity to experience the joy of living in the moment, without distraction or interruption, fully appreciating the beauty and impermanence of the view surrounding me.
