“Birch Twilight” opens a threshold between forest and dream. Slender white birches rise like quiet sentinels through currents of blue and green, while flashes of yellow and purple glow like the final light of day. Their dark marks and finely traced branches hold the eye in sharp detail, yet the surrounding cellular patterns seem to ripple, bubble, and drift beyond reach. The trees remain still as the world around them moves, creating a poignant tension between endurance and change. Realism offers something familiar to hold onto, while abstraction loosens the scene into memory, water, sky, and imagination. As the gaze travels upward through the strong vertical trunks and restless colour, the painting reveals both calm and unease — the hush of twilight balanced against a landscape in transformation. “Birch Twilight” invites viewers to pause within that fleeting moment and consider what remains rooted when everything else is changing.
