This painting was inspired by the incredible openness of the northern wilderness. I love oil painting with my Palette Knives and Rubber Brushes as it allows me to speed up the layering of oil paint. One layer of oil paint can take up to weeks to dry. The knives enable me to stay in my creative zone. I am also an environmental conservationist, mesmerized by the open spaces where the horizon is at such a distance that time doesn’t matter. The subtle movements that feel like a beach carrying your mood into meditation are captivating. I wanted to share that

Mariam Qureshi
Mariam Qureshi is a bilingual Canadian contemporary artist bridging the Edmonton and Toronto art scenes with immersive, biophilic landscapes. Using bold palette knife work and heavy impasto, she translates atmospheric light and raw textures into tactile, three-dimensional frequencies that evoke a healing connection to nature.
""I draw inspiration from nature’s movement, light, and depth to create immersive spaces. For me, the interaction with the viewer is what inspires me to move beyond the simple act of painting, ultimately becoming whole.""
