In the Rockies, as the light touches the surface and lights up the sights, there is a beautiful spot where you can watch glacier water flow down a river. I don’t use reference photos, and my work depends on my experience, so when I returned to my studio, the water rush, the sunset's marks, and the mist that mystifies the mountains from a distance came through on this canvas. I wanted to relive in that movement. Currently available on Artsy via James May Gallery in an exhibit to raise awareness about the importance of water.

Mariam Qureshi
Mariam Qureshi is a bilingual Canadian contemporary artist bridging the Edmonton and Toronto art scenes with immersive, biophilic landscapes. Using bold palette knife work and heavy impasto, she translates atmospheric light and raw textures into tactile, three-dimensional frequencies that evoke a healing connection to nature.
""I draw inspiration from nature’s movement, light, and depth to create immersive spaces. For me, the interaction with the viewer is what inspires me to move beyond the simple act of painting, ultimately becoming whole.""
