About the Artwork
This work is an experiment in combining classical painting techniques with contemporary. Living in Mexico, I adopted an old Mexican tradition of including the message into the painting.
It reads:
A nightfly, a song
Who I was, who I should be
A Lightfly, a dance
I forbade myself to see

Bordering between expressionism and realism Copeman's work is also reflective of what is revealed in her dreams. Her work tends to be intuitive rather than conceptual.
