Impala are one of my favorite antelope species. They seem to be perfectly proportioned with a combination of grace and presence that is a joy to paint and study.
The sublime twisting curl of their ridged horns is a study in and of itself.
I chose to leave some of the background un-painted to accentuate the essence of a captured moment, or impression.

My creative process is an intuitive one...
I go where inspiration takes me, striving to release the need to control outcomes. My job as an artist is to step back and leave space for the character and personality of my subjects to inhabit the work.
"Inspiration drives me to express the spirit and essence of animal and fantasy subjects with honesty, respect and passion."
