Fierce One, Northern Pygmy Owl
Sold
"I have seen a handful of Northern Pygmy Owls throughout the years and I have always been struck by the fierceness of their countenance.
To see that intense, piercing, yellow-eyed gaze contained in such a small package was something I definitely wanted to explore as an artist.
Pygmy Owls are no bigger than a man's fist. They are often seen sitting like fluffed up balls on the tops of conifer trees or on power lines as they hunt for little songbirds, mice and large insects.

My creative process is an intuitive one...
I go where inspiration takes me, striving to release the need to control outcomes. My job as an artist is to step back and leave space for the character and personality of my subjects to inhabit the work.
"Inspiration drives me to express the spirit and essence of animal and fantasy subjects with honesty, respect and passion."
