The inspiration for this painting was a photograph I had taken of the Hubbard Glacier where it flows into the Pacific Ocean. "Ice Stream" was juried into the FCA Vancouver "Water" Exhibition 2022.
I purposely placed the horizon line well above the upper 1/3rd of the canvas, in order to allow emphasis of the field of reflection in the water. The effect of the ice flow on the water was accomplished with a combination of brush and palette knife. These elements were repeated establishing a rhythm and movement originating at the shoreline, drifting out into the ocean.

I make art because this is how I speak to others, how I speak to myself. My marks are scratched on canvas and paper. Consider these marks an alternative language. The marking comes captures a moment in time, as the brush touches the paper, time is stilled.
"I am a joyful mark maker inspired by the light of Turner, and the brush strokes of Monet."
