There are a few paintings each year that I complete at the Galiano Saturday market. The tunes of the market musicians capture my paintbrush as it moves across the canvas. “Sandstone Trail, Montague” is one of them. From the Jack Garton sky to the Tamara Nile arbutus this painting has been touched by their rhythms.
If you walk along the northernmost shoreline of the Montague Provincial Park main beach (boat launch) at a low tide you will come upon the most glorious sandstone sculptures, big enough to crawl into. This painting was inspired by one of the many along this sandstone trail.

Galiano Island, British Columbia
My work celebrates the beauty of Galiano Island and the rhythms of wild joy that connect everything in and around this little island. Recently I have been exploring the night sky, playing with the shapes of light and dark cast by the light of the moon.
""When painting our long narrow island I am tuned into the rhythms of open sky and ocean that weave through the tapestry of rock and forest connecting us all""
