This painting was created while painting ‘en plein air’ on a hillside in the city. With a cool wind and chance of rain, the wild flowers and lovey view got my brushes going. However, my sweet painting took another path. While painting, a rough looking man, grumbling loudly came wandering around circling the area with his large black tarp looking to settle his home. Perhaps, my presence was invading his space. He collected his things and circled around a few more time before finally cocooning into his black tarp waiting for the rain. I can’t imagine what it must feel like to have such insecurity with no place to call home. My painting reflects the beauty and the dark side of living rough and outdoor.
