The ever changing light creates challenges and opportunities experienced in Plein air painting. With this work it was an excellent opportunity to try to capture the fleeting light that created light patterns and cast shadows. In a window of a short period of time the light transforms a dull scene to a spectacular illuminated scene. The challenge of painting on site with strong sunlight is to keep pace with the changing light and not chase it. I have painted exactly this view point in all the changing seasons which contributes to a variety of colour changes and compositions they have to offer.
