I spend a great deal of time painting in the forests of Vancouver. What draws me is not the grandeur of the landscape, but the often-overlooked roots, fallen trees, and tangled vines that quietly shape the forest floor.
In this work, I aim to capture the ongoing cycle of life within the forest. Fallen trees gradually decay, yet at the same time nurture new growth. Decay and renewal coexist. The intertwining lines, structures, and colors echo the traces left by time, while also suggesting the continuous breath and resilience of the forest itself.
