Dennis J Brandt

Vancouver, British Columbia

Dennis J Brandt loves painting-- he usually paints to convey a story. Often in his work realism competes with abstract elements-- amidst forced perspectives, a willful disregard for the laws of physics, and/or a notable suspension of disbelief. He is inspired by both the natural and unnatural worlds.

One future goal is to lean toward abstraction even while attending to realism.

In a society dominated by consumer appeals and market research, I want to paint an opportunity to stop scrolling, to see to the root of something that matters, or at least breathe some clean air. I want us to remember our collective right to live in authenticity, without guilt.
