About the Artwork

Sometimes allowing the canvas to dictate its intentions takes me to interesting places complete with wonderful stories. The words "water elevator" kept coming to me and I had to look it up. For me it is much like a lighthouse keeper but much busier with boats coming and going, up and down...
This piece was painted intuitively until something emerged that caught my interest. From there on my imagination took over, armed with my years of painting skills and techniques. It is a nice break from coastal landscapes but still seems to be set in the water. And yes...trees grow anywhere in this world of mine.

Cindy Mawle

Bowser, British Columbia

Cindy Mawle’s acrylic paintings on canvas predominantly feature trees set within calming west coast scenery but can sway slightly into an “experimental zone” in order to express her unique voice.

"“Painting is the touchstone that connects me to the uncomplicated reality of nature. The subject and process relaxes me and the calm I paint upon my canvas is my offering to the world. It is just that simple.”"
